I think I have a new obsession

A new obsession. And NO time to do anything about it. Argh!

This past weekend I was very excited to attend the Paper Pieced Pillows Workshop with Sonja Callaghan put on by the VMQG. And oh my, So.Much.Fun! It was held at the Kennsigton Community centre, which I had never been to. The space was just lovely, spacious and full of light.

The templates. And the very handy Add-A-Quarter ruler that Sonja gifted us with.
Sonja was wonderful. Engaging and patient. I learnt so much and feel well equipped to now attempt more difficult paper piecing projects at home. I came home with my penguin block(almost) finished. I still need to add the border, quilt it, and add eyes. Then of course construct the pillow. But I feel like I've got the hard part tackled. I want so badly to finish my pillow but there are so many other things on my plate right now that need working on. Argh! I hope I can get it done before the Dec VMQG meeting, but that remains to be seen!

Sonja herself :)
I now think that anyone can do paper piecing and do it well! If you don't agree, go check out Sonja's video tutorials! Bet you could do it!

Some paper piecing in progress.

If you interested in making these pillows yourself the pattern and instructions is in Pretty in Patchwork: Holidays: 30+ Seasonal Patchwork Projects to Piece, Stitch, and Love. I received the book as part of my enrolment for the workshop and was very pleasantly surprised with it. There are many projects in there that I want to make, which makes it a winner in my books!

My nearly finished Penguin block.

While at the workshop I couldn't resist this little cutie, so this pattern is now on my desk and to-do list :)

Group shot at the end of the day. Look  at all the adorableness!

Now back to holiday crafting! Can you believe it's almost December? I can't!

    1. Abbi! Hi! Thank you for visiting my space. Your blog was one that I left open after entering your giveaway because it felt so inviting and I wanted to read more :) You should try paper piecing! I was completely intimidated at first but it's not as difficult as it seems!
